Inside of Me

Amy roused as she became aware of the incessant knocking at her hotel room door. She groaned as she raised her head from the pillow, as she felt even more physically miserable right now than she had the night before. She shivered a little as she reached for the robe on the back of the desk chair, then hobbled her way to the door.

"Amy, what happened to you? I thought-" Dawn Marie stopped in mid-sentence as she took in her best friend's appearance. The redhead looked extremely groggy, but even worse, she appeared to be sick. "Are you all right?!"

The other diva, as though on cue with her friend's question, turned her head away as a fit of coughing hit her. Her cough was a very wet, phlegmy one as well.

"Ugh... No," she finally replied, shaking her head as she turned to face Dawn again. "I'm sick as hell..."

"Oh, poor baby!" the brunette exclaimed. She crept her way into the hotel room, gesturing to Amy to get back into bed. "There *has* been a bad cold going around lately. Remember how sick Stacy was a couple of weeks back?"

"Uh huh," the redhead replied as she crawled back into the bed and under the blankets. "She was bed-ridden for a solid week."

"Yeah... And if you have the same thing she had, the same might be *your* fate," Dawn Marie said pointedly. "If you like, I'll bring up some breakfast for you - Jay and I were going to meet in a half hour."

"How was it last night?" Amy managed as she looked up at the other diva with heavy-lidded, red-rimmed watery eyes.

"Very nice," the brunette answered with a smile. "Jay and I like each other very much."

"Uh huh... Good thing I got my own room..."

"Oh, it's not like that!" Dawn protested, startling the redhead by actually blushing. "At least not *yet*."

Amy laughed. Now *that* was the Dawn Marie she knew and loved.

"Dawn Marie, I'm glad you're here," she said seriously. Her mind whirled back to what had happened the previous night. She still had trouble believing it. It all felt like a dream.

The brunette arched a brow curiously.

"Did something happen last night?" she asked, and the sick redhead gaped at her in surprise. Sometimes, she swore that Dawn Marie was damn near psychic.

She nodded.

"Something happened last night, all right... Where... Where do I begin?"

The other diva shrugged. "Why not start from the beginning?" she laughed.

Amy smirked at her, then nodded.

"Well, it all started when Adam called me-"

"Adam called you? When?"

Wearily, Amy began to explain everything to Dawn Marie, who, by the time she got to the part where they returned to the redhead's hotel room was gaping at her. In fact, she was staring at her best friend with a slack jaw.

"So, you cheated on John..."

"No! I mean..." Amy fumbled on her words. "I didn't do a single thing to Adam."

"Hmm... That may be true, " Dawn spoke, but you didn't stop him, either." She perched at the very edge of the other diva's bed. "What are you going to do about this?"

The redhead's face fell completely as hopelessness washed over her.

"That's the thing, Dawn - I don't know," she moaned. She leaned forward, her head bowed, long red hair curtaining around her face. "But I realized something last night..." She raised her head, her hazel eyes fixing to her friend's brown. "... I'm still in love with Adam - and I never got over him..."
