Inside of Me

John Cena whistled as he made his way down the arena hallway.

Despite the huge fight he'd had with his girlfriend last night, he couldn't help feeling good about himself. He knew just the way to get himself out of the doghouse. The sugary sweet-talk hardly ever failed. He knew no woman could resist his charm.

A smile spread across the young man's face as he reached the divas' locker room. He knocked and waited with his arms crossed.

A moment later, Dawn Marie was standing in the doorway, peering out at him.

"Why, hello... What can I do for you, John?"

Cena snickered at the brunette's seemingly innocent question, his eyes scanning quickly over her. But that wasn't him any longer and hadn't been ever since he'd started seeing Amy. He was no longer a player.

"You can go get Amy for me," he replied with a wink.

Dawn shook her head, and John's grin disappeared.

"No can do," she began. "Amy's not here."

"Huh?" Confusion took over as the man eyed the diva. "Why not? And when is she then?"

"She's at the hotel. She never came to the arena tonight because she's sick."

John arched a brow in surprise.

"She is? She was fine yesterday when she left me. What's wrong?"

"She has a really bad cold." The brunette offered nothing more. This man could be infuriating, especially where her best friend was concerned, but at least he looked like he cared - for a change.

"You don't say," Cena muttered, looking thoughtful. "I guess I'll have to catch her there then. Thanks, Dawn."

Dawn Marie nodded and gave him the tiniest smile before closing the door. She let out a sigh, partly of relief, and returned to her locker.

Thank goodness he hadn't asked her anything more. If he'd questioned the redhead's whereabouts and what she'd done the previous night, Dawn knew she'd have been able to come up with some phony story. Lying was actually pretty easy for her, as she had the best poker face. But she hated doing it. Besides, no doubt any lie she'd have told Cena would come back to bite Amy in the ass.

The brunette crossed the locker room and exited the door. Out in the hallway, she looked around, spotting Jay. The blond man's back was facing her, and she started quietly over, intending to sneak up behind and surprise him.

But then, she halted as the taller form of Adam Copeland suddenly appeared, the blond man emerging from the locker room he and his best friend were sharing. Somehow, she was reluctant to go over with him there, as she might look at him in a giveaway fashion - despite her poker face. Amy had spoken to *her*, not Jay. And it was a good bet her best friend didn't want Adam to know she'd told her about last night.

And then, Dawn Marie noticed something that got her nervous - the tall blond man was coughing. Oh, lord... He must have caught the redhead's cold. What if John ran into Adam and put two and two together?

Dawn didn't even want to think about it.
