Inside of Me

The young woman was furious as she stormed out of his hotel room - actually their hotel room. This was the last straw as far as she was concerned. She had put her foot down, but he didn't give a rat's ass.

Amy Dumas continued her brisk way down the hallway, her bag over her shoulder as she clutched it with both hands. She wanted to get as far away from John Cena as she could manage at the moment.

"That's whack!" she heard him yell from the doorway of the room they'd been sharing. "That's what you do best - run away!"

She tried desperately to ignore his taunting voice.

She kept walking until she reached the farthest end of the hall - Dawn Marie Psaltis' room. She only hoped the brunette was in and wouldn't mind having an unexpected roommate.

As she knocked and then waited for a response, Amy couldn't help the overwhelming feeling of hopelessness that came over her. Damn it... She'd thought she'd found Prince Charming when she'd met John... She couldn't have been more wrong.

The door suddenly opened, and, relieved, the redhead sighed as she met Dawn Marie's eyes.

"Hey... Amy, what's up?" The brunette's expression saddened as she took note of the bag the other woman was toting." "Uh oh... Did you and John have another fight?"

"Of course we did..." she replied dryly, then entered the room past her best friend and fellow WWE and former ECW diva.

As Amy put down her valise, Dawn Marie eyed her sympathetically. She shut and locked the door before approaching her friend and sitting down on one of the beds to eye her questioningly. The redhead was obviously fuming. Dawn wondered what had happened this time... Except for the first two months they'd been together, Amy had pretty much had complaints galore about one John Cena - which meant their relationship had been going steadily downhill over the last four months... Not good. Dawn opted not to say a word, knowing her best friend would voluntarily spill her guts at any moment anyway.

"I really can't take much more of John's crap," she finally said angrily. She reached up to place both hands to her head. "He decided to have a little party and invite all of his buddies over - again!"

"Again? That's the fifth night in a row, isn't it?"

"Try sixth," Amy said bitterly. "I told him I was getting tired of hanging out with his friend till God knows when." She shook her head, a frown dominating her pretty face. Cena was known for partying with his pals till all hours of the night - something the redhead didn't mind too much for the first couple of months of their relationship. Mainly, she had put up with it for the sake of spending time with him. However, it hadn't exactly been what one could call quality time, no matter how much she'd deluded herself of that fact back then.

"Look, Dawn... Is it all right if I just stay here with you?"

"Oh, of course," the brunette said. She felt sympathetic toward her friend's plight. If only Amy had seen John Cena for what he really was back in the beginning...

Moments later, the two divas were ready for bed, and Amy crawled under the blanket in the spare one, her thoughts running overtime. She sighed as she reflected on the last nearly seven months of her life.

She'd been feeling so down, so depressed after her breakup with Adam... Adam Copeland had been the best thing to happen to her in a long time, and they'd been together for nearly two years. But then things had gotten rough, and the relationship had suffered.

He'd been going through a personal crisis after his neck injury, and it had been much worse than when she'd suffered the exact same thing. When she'd been hurt, he'd been there throughout the entire ordeal - but when the tables were turned, he'd refused to allow her to be there for him. And because he'd been so depressed, he'd taken up regular drinking. Finally, Amy had been pushed to her emotional limit and couldn't deal with it any longer. The Canadian had been pushing her away for two months, and she'd had enough.

That was when she'd broken up with him...

It hadn't been easy. Adam Copeland had easily been the love of her life. Then, not two weeks later, she'd started to get to know John. He'd been so sweet at first, showering her with compliments, attention, and validating her feelings. He'd helped her to get over Adam quickly - or so it seemed. It was as though he were too good to be true...

...But the redhead had soon come to realize that things were not always as they seemed...

Amy tossed and turned in the bed, desperately wishing for sleep - and for the temporary escape it would bring her.
