Where Will You Go

______________________________________________________

The blond man turned into the corridor of the arena, a sigh coming to him. Although tired after a late night out with his brother, he was glad to be here tonight. He and Christian would be defending their tag team titles.

Suddenly, Edge dropped his bag to the floor. It was when he stooped over to retrieve it that he heard a female voice from nearby.

"I...I really don't think I should be here tonight."

The blond man cocked his head to one side and frowned. That sounded like Lita, one of two new divas - well, new since February, anyhow. Although she'd been part of the WWF for the last three and a half to four months, he'd never really had a real conversation with the woman. All he basically knew about her was that she was a really cute redhead who was always with Essa Rios, and that she was pretty tough and fiesty at ringside.

"Don't worry," another woman's voice spoke, and Edge at once recognized her as being Tori. "The doctor said you were fine, just a little weak..."

The tall Canadian frowned more deeply, making certain to stay hidden in the corner in which he stood. He dared to peer around the bend to eye the two divas and realized he happened to be standing right near the women's locker room.

And sure enough, Tori and Lita were standing right outside the door to the room as they conversed. The blond man noted the sadness in the redhead's eyes, the look of dejection therein.

He wondered what the two divas were talking about... What had happened to Lita that a doctor would have had to tell her she was fine?

"I just...I know I shouldn't be here," Lita continued, and she bowed her head as tears began to form in her eyes.

Upon noticing the redhead beginning to cry, Edge became a little more bold and stuck his head out a bit more so as to get a better look and earful. He was practically dying with curiosity. But when the unhappy diva raised her head, she thought she could detect someone in the nearby corridor, spying. She stared straight ahead, craning her neck a bit, eyes wider.

"What is it?" Tori asked, and the blonde turned to glance over her shoulder.

Even before the muscular diva could spot him, Edge had turned and ran back the way he'd come, bag in hand. Whatever was going on, it was none of his business. The truth was, he felt a little guilty for having spied on the two women, even if it had been inadvertent.

"Someone was...watching us," Lita said, her gaze meeting Tori's brown eyes.

The blonde diva again cast a quick glance behind her. Although she couldn't see anyone, sure enough, she could hear retreating footsteps.

"Who was it?"

"I...I'm not sure," Lita admitted, shaking her head. She still had the most unhappy expression on her face. "But I did notice his long blond hair..."

"His?" Tori questioned, and she arched a brow at that. She mulled it over and realized that, if it were indeed a man with long blond hair who'd overheard them, there were only five candidates - Triple H, Test, Chris Jericho, Edge and Christian. And the way she figured it, at least a couple of those men could be eliminated from the equation... Although she hung around Triple H and his 'regime,' quite simply put, the man was an asshole. He was nosy enough that he would probably have come over and demanded flat-out to know what was going on. Chris Jericho would have most likely done the same, but out of concern. Tori didn't know the other three men well, but she knew enough of Christian to say he was pretty outspoken - he may very well have just come over and asked what they'd been talking about...

Which left Test and Edge...

Somehow, Tori really couldn't see Test being all that concerned for Lita. As it was, he was too busy, along with his tag team partner, Albert, pampering his new manager, Trish Stratus.

Edge had to be the man Lita had spotted listening to them... Tori would stake her life on it.

She had to talk to him...
