Where Will You Go

Edge was in the process of sorting through his bag, searching for a pair of wrestling tights to wear during his and Christian's tag team title defense.

Just as he pulled his white pair out, a knock sounded at the locker room door. The tall blond man halted in his task, then went to the door and opened it.

He was only half-surprised at who was standing in the doorway and looking anxious to talk to him.

"Hey, Edge..." Tori looked somewhat nervous as she wrung her hands before her.

"Tori..."

The tall blonde diva looked past him into the room, as though trying to ascertain that he was alone. He was at the moment, since Christian had gone to the buffet to grab a bite not too long ago.

"Look, would it be okay if I come in? I need to talk to you."

The co-tag team champion nodded knowingly.

"Okay... Fair enough," he said. then, shutting the door, he turned back to the diva. He didn't say a word, just eyed her questioningly, wanting her to speak first. He supposed she was going to explain - or at least ask him to keep his mouth shut about whatever it was he'd overheard between Lita and herself earlier.

"Edge," Tori began, clasping her hands together as she met his eyes squarely, "I know you heard us in the hallway before..."

"Hmm? What are you talking about?" He decided to at least try the clueless route. Maybe she'd believe he had no idea what she was talking about and just leave it at that. The Canadian knew he didn't want to get mixed up in the two women's troubles - whatever they might be.

A nervous flicker flashed through the woman's light brown eyes, then died down. She studied him intently and silently for a moment, as though assessing whether she believed him or not. Then, taking a seat beside him on the plush couch, she continued.

"I know you heard us, so there's no use pretending you didn't."

The blond man shifted his green eyes down to the floor before him, a sigh escaping him. He raked a hand through his long hair as he answered her.

"Okay, you got me... I was just heading for my locker room, and when I entered the corridor..." He raised his gaze to meet the blonde diva's. "You're right, I heard the two of you talking." His brows knit together as a serious expression dominated his face. "Tori, what's going on? I heard you say something to Lita about a doctor...?"

The DX diva's face grew very sad, and, biting her lip gently, she glanced down. It was most definitely not her place to tell anyone what the redhead was going through, and she was no gossip. Still, Edge looked very concerned, and he had overheard a part of their conversation. And if he knew the truth and cared enough, he might just do something about that bastard Essa Rios.

But she couldn't tell him... She couldn't tell anyone. If Lita wanted him or anyone else to know, it was her horror story to share - not Tori's.

Tori sighed and raised her gaze slightly, reaching a hand up to run her fingers through her long blonde hair.

"I'm... I can't tell you that. I'm sorry, Edge." She took a deep breath, exhaled, and then spoke again. "But I will confirm that yes, Lita did see a doctor... She... Well, she had to," she concluded. She only prayed the man wouldn't ask anymore questions. Although she had the answers, they weren't hers to give.

The tall Canadian nodded, but his green eyes appeared to be full of question marks.

"Okay... I understand." But he really didn't, and he was almost certain he didn't want to know what had happened to the redheaded diva. Somehow, he picked up the sense from Tori that it was unthinkable...

After a brief moment of silence so awkward between them that it was palpable, Edge cocked his head to look into the diva's eyes again.

"Tori, I... okay, I don't know what happened to Lita, and I won't pretend to know her all that well, either," he began. "But I'd like to help in any way I can. What can I do to accomplish that?"

A tiny, albeit somewhat sad, smile came to Tori's lips.

"Just be a friend - be there for her, but don't be too pushy about getting close to her or anything," the young woman replied. She chewed her lower lip thoughtfully for a beat, studying him while she did. "I can tell you truly do care - you're concerned... Even though you don't kow what she went through."

Edge was about to open his mouth to reply but stopped when the door suddenly opened.

"Edge, they have cheese fries out there tonight!" Christian exclaimed, his face excited as he carried a paper plate full of his alleged favorite snack into the locker room. He stopped in his tracks as he caught sight of Tori, then arched a brow. "Sorry... I wasn't interrupting something, was I?"

"No... No, I was just leaving," the D-Generation X diva said softly, then quickly turned for the door and let herself out.

Christian stared after the blonde, wondering what had just gone on here. A quick glance back at Edge told him nothing, but his tag partner wore an extremely concerned look on his face.

He wondered what was up.
