Inside of Me

______________________________________________________

{I can't stop thinking of you
The things we used to do
The secrets we once shared
I'll always find them there
In my memories

But this heartache isn't going anywhere
And in the public eye I act like I don't care
When there's no one watching me
I'm crying

I will always have you
Inside of me
Even though you're gone
Love still carries on
Love, inside of me...}

Amy stood in the arena hallway with Dawn Marie, her mind focused on the realizations she'd had early that morning. Then again, she'd always known she hadn't truly gotten over him, not even when-

"Hey, are you okay, Amy?"

Her friend's question startled her from her thoughts, and she looked up and into the other woman's concerned brown eyes.

"Um... Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine."

"Bullshit," Dawn Marie said. "I know you, and I know when something's bothering you. Spill it, Dumas..."

The redhead couldn't help but roll her eyes. Dawn Marie was not only her best friend, she was also very much like the older sister she'd never had. And while she realized she did want to to speak with her, she didn't want to do it out here, where plenty of people could overhear her innermost feelings.

"I... Well, I really would rather talk somewhere more private, Dawn - okay?"

The brunette eyed the other woman with what most would have called suspicion. Then, her features softened and she sighed.

"Okay, you win. But can you just tell me one thing?"

"What?" Amy asked.

"This is about John, isn't it?" Dawn Marie questioned, one brow prettily arched as she leaned in closer to whisper.

"Huh? Oh... No, Dawn. Believe it or not, it's not about him," the redhead replied. "Well, not really." She cast her eyes down for a moment. She guessed it was sort of about Cena, since it had to do with a man she was in love with - who didn't happen to be him. She wondered what her friend's reaction to the truth would be. Well, she would find out later...

As the redhead raised her head, her gaze traveled to a bit further down the hall, and her breath caught in her throat at the vision she beheld...

...Adam and his best friend, Jay Reso, were heading their way. As her blond former boyfriend neared, her heart began to pound so hard that she could actually hear her pulse throbbing extra loudly in her head. She hoped Dawn couldn't hear it.

"Hey, ladies," Adam said cheerfully, and Jay spoke a greeting as well. But Amy couldn't be paid a million dollars to repeat what he'd said, as she'd been struck deaf to pretty much anything anyone other than Adam had said.

"Hey," Dawn Marie said with a smile for both men.

"Hi," the redhead spoke. She too smiled but feared she must look nervous as hell right about then.

"Hey, are you two going to hang out after the show tonight? Jay had been the one to issue the question.

"Sure," the brunette quipped. "You name the place and I'm there!"

"Cool."

"You know, I think I'm just going to stay in tonight," the taller of the two blond men announced, eliciting surprise from his best friend but disappointment in Amy.

"So am I," the diva said after a beat. "I'm kind of tired, so I think I'll just take it easy tonight."

"Fine - suit yourselves," Jay said, sticking his tongue out at the both of them. "Dawn and I will have a blast without you."

"Yeah!" The brunette laughed, as she couldn't help herself.

"Well..." Adam said, running a hand through his long blond hair.

"I'd better get going. My match is coming up in a few." He was supposed to be facing Kane, of all people.

"Good luck!" the redhead called as the Canadian started walking off.

"Thanks!" he called back, a hand outstretched in her direction as he turned to glance briefly back at her from over his shoulder.
