To Have and Not to Hold Series

{Should have left you standing right where you stood
Should have let you go, should have had the sense to know
Like a train you'd come, and I'd lose my place
Now I'm on this trip, I took a fall from grace

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
From the look of love, from the eyes of pride
Nowhere to go, no place to run
From the look of love, now I've come undone...}

She sat in the nearly deserted hallway, her thoughts running a million miles an hour as she glanced impatiently at her watch.

Amy bit her lip, fighting the urge to just get up and start pacing - or walk the hallway in search of him... *That* would definitely not be a good idea - someone could see her looking for him, and what if that person ended up being Stacy or Jeff?

A few more minutes passed, and just as the redhead felt as though she were about to go mad, he appeared. She saw him from far off down the hall, but sure enough, it was *him*. His long blond hair flowed behind him as he strode quickly to her, his black leather jacket open and flapping on either side of him.

In her haste, she leapt off of the equipment case she was sitting upon, her heart pounding as he neared. Finally, he came to stand before her, and his green eyes seemed to sparkle as he gazed at her.

"What kept you so long?" the diva asked, her heart in her eyes as she looked him over.

"Sorry," he said, running a hand through his long golden hair. "It was Stacy, actually... I think she's onto me."

Amy's hazel eyes went wide as she heard those words, and she took hold of his arm and pulled him into the adjoining corridor, which was blessedly empty.

"What? She's *onto* us?"

"No, not *us* - *me*," Adam clarified. He sighed and then shrugged. "She seems to suspicious lately."

The redhead studied her- What was the proper word for him? He wasn't her boyfriend, Jeff was. Well, okay, he was definitely her *lover*. She studied him in silence for a brief pause, then posed the next obvious question.

"Has she mentioned any names?"

The tall Canadian shook his head.

"No - but don't worry, because you're the last person she'd suspect," he assured her.

Amy bit her lip, her hazel eyes falling to watch a suddenly intriguing spot on the floor. Her mind was wracked with guilt. But it was a strange type of guilt - while she felt badly for what she was doing to Jeff, and to Stacy - who *was* her friend - she didn't regret a moment she'd spent with Adam, or a kiss or a touch. She truly *loved* him. And if it was wrong for her to love him, well then... she didn't *want* to be right.

"Look..." Adam glanced around the area, his emerald eyes suddenly shifty. He was worried about someone, particularly Stacy or Jeff - or Matt, his older brother - happening by and catching them here. "Why don't we get out of here?"

"Sure."

Together, the departed the corridor, and the blond man gestured to her with a wave of his hand as well as a nod of his head.

"You go on ahead... I'll meet you at your rental!" he called in a loud whisper.

Amy nodded, then kept walking. In relief, she noticed that pretty much everyone had already left. The area really was deserted by now, and only a handful of cars remained in the parking lot. That would certainly make things easier for them...

She was sitting in her car for about five, ten minutes and was beginning to get worried - when suddenly, he appeared. The tall blond man slipped into the passenger's side, which she'd unlocked, and sat there for a beat, his eyes gazing out the windshield before him. Then, so quickly Amy *hadn't* expected it, Adam turned, pulling her toward him and kissing her fervently on the lips. She nearly lost her breath as his hot, moist tongue explored her mouth, his right hand snaking up the left side of her body to come to rest on her cheek. The gesture was so sweet and tender, but the kiss so hot and passionate.

After a couple of minutes, Amy broke the kiss and gazed deeply into his green eyes. Her lovely face full of surprise and pleasure, she laughed ever so softly.

"Wow... that's the most bold you've ever been."

Adam grinned

"Well, I couldn't help myself... You bring out the beast in me, Amy..."

She laughed before moving closer to kiss him again.

"God, I love you," she whispered afterward.

"I love you, too..."

He held her close against him, his hand caressing over her long red hair, his thoughts consumed with how very much he wanted to be with her - to *really* be with her, and without them having to sneak around. He wondered how it could be a reality, but it wasn't the right time to verbalize any of this to her.
