Feelin' Rated R

August 13, 2006

Hello, and welcome back to Feelin' Rated R! Three weeks removed from the last (and actually first) issue, I am back with more insight and a few educated guesses about the very near future regarding the Rated R Superstar.

The first thing I want to say is that I am very pleased that Edge is still the WWE Champion. He deserves this. As I stated last issue, Adam Copeland manages to entertain the fans in the arena and watching on TV each and every week, whether you like, dislike, love or hate his character of Edge. There's no denying that there's never a dull moment when he graces our screen. Edge is innovative, creative, fresh and vital to the RAW brand.

Speaking of fresh, it would appear that there is a brand new feud that was born last week on RAW - Edge and Lita engaged in a battle with the new couple of Carlito and Trish Stratus. Last week's show saw the Rated R Couple putting an abrupt end to Trish's Women's Championship match against titleholder Mickie James. Not only did the Maple Leaf beauty's chance at regaining the gold get thwarted, but there was also a brilliant ranting promo by Edge, who is apparently jealous of his fellow blonde Toronto native, who, instead of himself, is gracing the cover of the latest issue of WWE Magazine. Following Edge, Lita verbally assaulted Trish and toyed with her pretty blonde hair, leading to the expected brawl. Add Carlito to the mix, and he and his lady both received spears, and you have a pretty damned awesome mid-show mixed tag team match.

Everyone reading this right now probably already knows what the outcome of said match was - Edge, attempted a Spear on Carlito, Carlito moved just in the nick of time, and poor Trish ended up the recipient, practically getting torn in half in the process; Lita capitalized on the referee's obliviousness and pinned her longtime foe - the Rated R Couple walked out the victors. If the WWE does things the RIGHT way, then I see a certain scenario that leads us up to SummerSlam.

SummerSlam... The pay-per-view that sees John Cena challenging Edge for the WWE gold yet again, has a couple of different possible outcomes where this match is concerned. Since the stipulation is that if Edge gets disqualified, he loses the title, the most obvious assumption would be that Lita would interfere and cost her man the match, and the gold along with it. After that, the best heel couple the WWE has seen in years would cease to be. Hundreds of Team Xtreme fanatics, most of whom cry for Lita to turn face again, would spooge over this. Would this formula work? Sure, but does the WWE really give its fan the most obvious and predictable ending? Not all the time, they don't. And they certainly haven't where Edge and Lita are concerned. The more interesting, more entertaining, more viable route would be to have Carlito gunning for Edge tomorrow night on RAW. Keep in mind that he has to at least TRY to get payback for what happened to his woman, because that's what a good guy does. Most likely, Edge would be the one to get the laugh tomorrow, but that would only mean that he'd have a target on his back at SummerSlam next week - and not only with Cena after him. I envision Edge retaining the gold at the pay-per-view, thanks to Carlito. Should this couple vs couple thing continue tomorrow night, chances are, it will go on after SummerSlam. Therefore, the logical route would be to have Carlito somehow interfere and cause John Cena to be DQ'd. Don't hang your hat on the obvious, folks, because we all know the WWE likes to throw us curveballs!

Well, that's it this issue. Hope you enjoyed!
