Feelin' Rated R

July 23, 2006

Hello, and welcome to the brand new Feelin' Rated R column! This was just thought up by me earlier today as I was thinking about writing a new issue of Adam Weekly. I decided to start a brand new column, since, in my opinion, it's silly to keep up a weekly one while I have definitely slacked off in that department! And so, here we now are! This one won't be much different than the last except that it certainly won't be written once a week. Expect a couple of issues per month at most.

Okay, so with that out of the way, it's been awhile since I wrote my last column. And of course you all know that things have majorly changed for Edge over the last few weeks. First, the good: Our Rated R Superstar is once again WWE champion, which is exactly what he deserves! Edge has busted his ass in the company and in the business in general for so long, and it's great to see him get such wonderful accolades again. Now, while I'm not a huge fan of the WWE handing him the title supposedly just because of Rob Van Dam's current troubles, I'm not one to complain about his reign, either. As any other huge fan of Edge, I'm thrilled that he is getting the ball (well, the gold. Heh) handed to him once again. He (as well as the amazing Lita) has done a terrific job keeping the fans entertained week in and week out, and although he's been stuck in a few odd feuds along the way back to the gold, he's stuck it out and earned his current position as champion. Vengeance was to me a HUGE disappointment, as it was for many other Rated R fans, but look where we are now!

Okay, and now for the bad: I have but one complaint about Edge's current title reign. Well, maybe two, actually - I haven't been enjoying seeing our champion looking weak ever since he regained the belt. What I mean by that is this - while I know he's a heel, and therefore meant to look cowardly and "insecure," he has to cheat to win and get his ass kicked and all that jazz. However, whenever he's been facing John Cena, whether the title is on the line or not, the Rated R Superstar has been booked to look weak. Why should the CHAMPION constantly get beat down and have to resort to unfair tactics (including having his girlfriend cheat for him)? Now, I'm a huge fan of Edge as a heel, and of Lita by his side and pitching in when she deems it necessary, but I was fuming at the events of Saturday Night's Main Event. I don't know about all the rest of you reading this, but I actually said to my friend who was watching with me, "Wow, way to make the champ look SUPER weak!" I think it's time for Edge also to get a new feud, because I really think the WWE messed up in his first title reign - it would have been better to have Cena chasing him for a lot longer and NOT regaining the title, at least not after a measly three weeks. Right now, while I'm never bored seeing Edge, I am finding the feud with Cena growing quite stale. I'd like to see some fresh blood gunning for the Rated R Superstar and the championship - and I most definitely do NOT mean Triple H.

It will be interesting to see what's in store for Edge tomorrow night on RAW. Be sure to tune in, as I of course will! Hope you enjoyed this issue!
