Adam Weekly - Issue # 72

Hello, and welcome to this week's new issue. This past week's RAW was great, wasn't it? The show lately has been kicking off with Edge and Lita in awesome promo segments, and this past week was no exception.

Last RAW, Maria was thrown into the mix in the opening segment. She was in the ring and announced Edge as "the former WWE Champion" and served as interviewer. We also got treated to some answers as to what happened at the end of the previous week's RAW as Edge explained that because he had defeated John Cena by DQ, he still won and had another title shot coming to him. He asked the audience if they had considered that Lita had seen him in trouble when he was about to get the FU, and so instead of whacking Cena with the championship belt, she hit him instead. It was pure logic. After all, Edge wins by any means necessary - whether it was countout, disqualification or whatnot, and he is still therefore the number one contender.

With that order of business out of the way, the diabolical duo then turned their attention on Maria. Edge told her, "you don't announce me as the former WWE Champion," but the future WWE Champion. Lita told her boyfriend that she would handle this one. She played with Maria's hair, squeezed her face, and basically toyed with the other diva. It ended up with Hacksaw Jim Duggan coming out to presumably taunt Lita again, and a furious Edge told him not to say it and that for the past couple of weeks, Duggan had been making his girlfriend's life a living hell. Hacksaw promised he wouldn't say anything but then did and got the crowd to chant, "Hoooooo!" with him. The segment ended with Edge beating down the legend, Lita roughing up Maria, and of course, John Cena running out to spare the diva from getting speared by Edge. This all led up to a mixed tag team match with Edge and Lita facing Cena and Maria.

Edge and Lita dominated the majority of the tag match, with Edge kicking Cena around and Lita playing with Maria, who has a lot less in-ring experience than her. The tide didn't turn until a pair of mishaps occurred - Lita went up top for a Hurricanrana on Cena, whom Edge was holding in place - but the champ moved out of the way, so she got her boyfriend instead. Afterward, she tried to get herself out of harm's way by flashing her bra at Cena, and Edge came back in for a Spear on Cena, but again, he moved out of the way, and Lita was the recipient instead. Maria then blind-tagged herself in (which to me doesn't make any sense since when the men ran in, they hadn't been tagged) to make the cover and three-count on Lita. Personally, although Lita had gotten speared by Edge, it wasn't all that convincing. She landed right near the ropes, and I thought she could have grabbed the bottom one.

One thing I forgot to mention above is that the winner of this match was going to get the opportunity to name the special referee in this week's rematch for the WWE title. After the win, Cena grabbed a mic and announced who he selected. It turned out to be none other than Mick Foley. Well, it's looking more and more like the rumors about Edge vs Foley at WrestleMania 22 are true. Oh well. We can only hope that once the business there is done with that Edge will be put back in the title picture. It totally stinks that he got stripped of the championship only three weeks after winning it and got knocked down a few pegs all because the boss' son-in-law feels threatened by his superb in-ring and mic skills and by the fact that he was drawing HUGE ratings. Maybe once the ratings drop way down thanks to the egomaniac, Vince will open his eyes and not give in to such whining and nepotism. Let's all keep our fingers crossed.

That's it for this week. Remember that RAW will not be on Monday this week thanks to the dog show. Thursday is the day to tune in!
