Adam Weekly - Issue # 67

Hi, and welcome to an all new issue of Adam Weekly! The great news is that there is once again plenty to discuss now that Edge is getting back into in-ring action as of tonight!

Okay, so obviously I'm going to start off with the events from this past week's RAW. So, this past Monday, we all got treated to seeing a re-enactment of the Ric Flair Road Rage incident, complete with Edge dressed in a Flair robe and a short blond wig. He was absolutely hilarious, and it was reminiscent of the Edge & Christian days! We should be so lucky to get to see more skits like this in the future. However, I also have to say that I find the reactions of certain people on the internet to be quite interesting, to say the least - hilarious and annoying are two other adjectives I would use as well. A question for all of you to chew over - don't you guys think that if Lita was going to turn on Edge, there would be some kind of buildup to it? Don't you think there would be some kind of dirty look Lita would throw his way, or even more logically speaking, a fight between the couple backstage, most likely to be showing on WWE.com's Unlimited?

I'm sure everyone reading this knows what I'm talking about. There has been some speculation on certain corners of the web that after Ric Flair got Lita in the Figure Four on RAW, and Edge ran off up the ramp but then came back for her, that the hottest heel couple in the WWE since perhaps Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, were on their way to a split. Uh uh... Don't count on it happening just yet, or anytime soon. For those people who have been part of this speculation, how many times have you watched the footage? How closely did you pay attention? And are you sure you don't need glasses, or if you already wear them, a stronger prescription?

Said people have said that Edge ran off and abandoned Lita in the ring with Flair, locked in the Figure Four, and that "he saw her in the hold and left her there." These same people have also said that Edge didn't go back to help her until after the Nature Boy released her. Let me say right now, that's a crock. So far, I've watched the segment about seven or eight times since Monday night, and the fact of the matter is that Ric Flair released Lita when he saw that Edge was running back to the ring! Edge did NOT run back after Flair released her, and anyone who says he did are nothing more than haters of the Edge/Lita pairing and are seeing only what they WANT to see - nothing more, nothing less. Don't believe me? Then go to the Multimedia section of this site, click 'Videos,' go to page 5 and download the latest video, which is of the entire segment with Edge, Lita and Flair from this past week's RAW. The answers are all there.

Now, onto New Year's Revolution and Edge's match. In a way, I have trouble swallowing that he is actually fighting for the Intercontinental Championship. It confuses me. I know he is just getting over an injury, so that might be the reason why he isn't part of the Elimination Chamber. This might be a way of testing out his pec to make sure it holds up okay. Whatever the case, I'm thrilled to get the chance to see Edge compete tonight, in what will be his first match in nearly three months (can't believe it's been THAT long). There have been rumors circulating around the internet that Lita may very well get physically involved and actually wrestle during the match to help Edge win. Now, I don't know how true this is and am not even sure of the original source of this information, but that would definitely be cool if it happens. But the problem is this - if the referee sees her taking part this way, wouldn't that make it a disqualification for Edge? There's been no announcement of a no DQ stipulation. And the other idea I got is if the match was made a handicap bout pitting Edge AND Lita against Flair for the title - reminiscent of Christian and Trish Stratus vs Chris Jericho at Backlash 2004 - only I would hope Edge and Lita would win! Anyway, whatever happens, I fully expect Lita to pitch in and lend her boyfriend a hand, even if she doesn't actually wrestle per se. What I DON'T expect to see is her turning on Edge. It would make no sense, and the only way it would is if Edge were turning face. And seeing as he is still getting a lot of heat from the crowds, not to mention acting heelish and not like a face at all, it's impossible. Oh, and the same goes for Lita. Women who are getting bombarded by "slut" chants on a regular basis don't get quickly turned into faces, and another thing that makes the odds of her turning on Edge nil is this - the formula of someone turning is "face turns on face to turn heel." NEVER do we see a heel turn face by turning on another heel. It just doesn't work that way, and anyone who understands wrestling would KNOW that.

Okay, time for my predictions for tonight's pay-per-view. I'm going to try to keep them short and sweet.

Gregory Helms vs Jerry "The King" Lawler: I don't really have much of an opinion about this match, or even any enthusiasm for it. I don't know, but I'm going to pick Helms in this one.

Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match: I've read rumors as of last night that Moolah and Mae Young may appear and get involved in this match. While I'd love to see a REAL match with the women, that obviously isn't possible, since the only ones we know for sure are involved who can wrestle are Victoria and (from everything I've heard) Maria. I'd like to see Victoria win this, but I have a feeling she won't. After her, I would pick Maria, but if Moolah and Mae are involved, I think I'd pick Mae to win.

Big Show vs Triple H: I'm going with Big Show to take this one... All the way, especially now that he has that giant-sized cast on his hand!

Trish Stratus vs Mickie James (Women's Title Match): For the last month or so, people have been divided as to which of these two divas they think will be turning heel. I want to say that I completely expect it to be Mickie. She's exhibited heel tendencies since last month, and she is just tormenting Trish lately. Due to this, the fans feel sorry for Trish, and that's the biggest reason why I don't see HER turning heel. It's also been a year already that Trish has had the Women's title, ever since last year's New Year's Revolution when she took it off of Lita because of the knee injury she sustained. Without question, I am picking Mickie to walk out the winner and new champ.

Edge With Lita vs Ric Flair (Intercontinental Title Match): Edge and Lita have been getting under Flair's skin for the past month. The last two weeks when we saw these three, Ric has gotten the last laugh (two weeks ago, the proof of this was shown on Unlimited and not live on RAW). I see Lita injecting herself in this match on her man's behalf, and I don't see Flair walking out with the title. I can also see Edge taking revenge on the Nature Boy for what he did to his girlfriend last week on RAW. Prediction: Edge wins the match with help from his lady love Lita and walks out the new Intercontinental Champion.

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship - John Cena (c), Kurt Angle, Carlito, Shawn Michaels, Kane & Chris Masters: I don't want to talk long about this one, but I fully expect to see Cena win and retain his title. That's it.
