Adam Weekly - Issue # 61

Hello. Welcome to a new issue after a couple of weeks worth of hiatus. I wanted to do this last week, but I just couldn't manage it, and I'm sure you all know why. Today's issue is going to be different, because I am going to pay tribute to one of my favorite wrestlers, Eddy Guerrero.

As I'm sure everyone knows by now, exactly a week ago, Eddy Guerrero tragically passed away. It was the most unexpected, most halting event I can think of in recent memory. And quite frankly, finding out he'd died was, to me, like getting hit by a train. As I said, he was one of my favorites. I followed his career since his earlier WCW days, and I had always liked him. Although I never got the honor of meeting Eddy, I feel so fortunate to have been able to watch him in both WCW and the WWE, to see his amazing matches and listen to his spectacular promos (I have always said to friends and family that he was one of THE best at cutting a promo), watching his hilarious antics during a segment, or just seeing his smile that lit up the entire arena. And I am so happy that I have many of those moments on tape or DVD.

Eddy was one of a kind. He had a natural charisma and talent in the wrestling world that has been the envy of many, and admired by everyone. Everyone loved him. And, no matter what, he had the ability to make people smile the world over. He survived a horrible car accident on New Year's Eve of 1998 (oddly enough, the one WCW houseshow I went to was the night before that, and I got the priviledge of seeing Eddy in a tag team match teaming with Chris Jericho) and battled his own personal demons. He beat addiction, and he did it for the love of his family. He was truly a wonderful soul who is missed by many, but whom NO ONE will ever forget. I know that I will always cherish my memories of this shining star, this wonderful man. Rest in peace, Eddy.

Viva la raza, and Latino Heat lives on forever in the hearts of millions around the world!
