Adam Weekly - Issue # 54

Hi, and welcome all to yet another issue of Adam Weekly! Sam is unavailable today, so you have my take yet again. However, she should be back with next week's issue.

Where do I begin this week? How about with SummerSlam? That seems about as good a place to start as anything. I was pleasantly surprised to see that for the second year in a row, I did pretty damn good with my SummerSlam predictions! There were only two matches I was stuck on, those being Eddy Guerrero and Rey Mysterio (I really, honestly thought Eddy would finally win) and, ironically, Edge's match against Matt Hardy. And this, of course, leads us to that particular match.

Personally, I found Edge's match to be pretty disappointing. Don't get me wrong - I'm totally happy that he won. Call me crazy, though, but I guess I expected a little more from it. I was nervous as hell about this match, since the two guys involved have a very real hatred between them and it was obvious it would not be an actual wrestling match. Well, that last part proved to be right. Edge and Hardy beat the hell out of each other, with Matt having the initial advantage and upper hand. That didn't last too long, however, and perhaps the one and only wrestling move we got to see was the huge spear from Edge to Hardy through the ropes!

I have to laugh when it comes to the Edge/Adam Copeland haters and their unbelievable comments following SummerSlam. I can't tell you all how many times I have seen comments like, 'Matt Hardy was supposed to win that match! I hate Edge!' or 'Edge is such a bastard for busting Matt open on the steel ring post!' or 'I think the referee had no choice but to call for the end of the match because Edge didn't follow the storyline.' Come on, people, give me a break! Yes, the shots they both administered during this match were stiff. There's no denying that. But what these people aren't getting is that the way this match ended was obviously SCRIPTED that way. Not to mention, it was incredibly obvious that Hardy bladed while he was outside the ring after the 'steel ring post shot.' I am SO sick of all the stupid comments I've seen hurled around about this.

The point is, after the events of SummerSlam and then RAW the following night, the obvious conclusion as far as Edge and Matt Hardy go is this - the WWE are obviously paying Hardy back for all the problems he caused for months on end. For those of you who missed RAW, Matt faced Rob Conway, and Edge and Lita came out just as that match was about to get underway. They stayed at the announce table throughout, and Edge even commented. It seems as though the WWE is letting Edge get the last and only laugh, and that the WWE itself are also getting the laughs. Hardy did not look good in this match, and it only seemed to propel Conway, who is now usually only on Heat. Meanwhile, Edge is getting propelled up the ladder. He has proven time and again to be worthy in the ring as well as in the promos he cuts. He is also getting to show his arch enemy that he backs up his words - he IS the better man between the two of them. Hardy jobbing to Rob Conway was probably humiliating enough for someone who claims, 'I will not die!' and who has vowed revenge on his former friend and former girlfriend. But after the match, Edge went into the ring and deepened that humiliation by beating him up and attacking him from the outside with the steel ring steps. All the while, of course, Lita was standing by watching with a big, satisfied smile on her face. I can only imagine that tomorrow night, Edge will have yet more up his sleeve. And by the time this real life feud is all over, he'll receive title shots and still more recognition as the main eventer that he is.

That will do it for this week's issue. Be sure to catch RAW tomorrow night, and check back here next week!
