Adam Weekly - Issue # 48

Hi, and welcome to an all new issue. Last week, there was a hiatus for the column due to me being out of town for my cousin's wedding, but I'm back now, and back with plenty to talk about this week.

First of all, I have to say that I was in complete, utter shock while watching RAW this week. The first segment in which we saw Edge was hilarious, and I quite enjoyed it. Snitsky is not someone I could have envisioned Edge (to say nothing of Lita) being buddies with, but I've been loving their friendship. Snitsky is quite a character, and he is extremely humorous. I wouldn't mind seeing Edge team up with him some more for tag matches, or even seeing a six-person mixed tag match pitting Edge, Lita and Snitsky against another team.

Okay, onward - I was sort of surprised that during the backstage segment with Snitsky, Edge made reference to Matt Hardy while they were all watching the wedding video. It was my assumption that the music and TitanTron movie played during the event would be a one-time thing only, and that it was meant solely to give a big "fuck you" to Hardy. And more than ever, I wish I had been correct in my thinking.

Unfortunately, Matt Hardy is back... Exactly just how much "back" he is remains to be seen. From what I understand, he has been signed to a very lenient deal with the WWE - meaning that he can basically come and go as he pleases. Does this seem fair? Hell no - not at all. Why should he get special treatment when other superstars don't, especially after all the trouble he's caused in making this real life situation that should have remained private, very, very public? I understand that the WWE are big on the ratings, but where do you draw the line? I'm very annoyed about the whole thing, and I felt physically ill when Hardy came out of nowhere to attack Edge FROM BEHIND as he and Lita were making their way down the arena hallway on their way to the ring. And I will be the first to admit that I initially thought Matt Hardy's appearance was 100% not a work and that he was acting on his own accord. However, I now know otherwise. Hardy attacking Edge backstage and then later in the ring was all set up. But make no mistake about it - what happened to lead all up to this point - Adam Copeland and Amy Dumas' affair, Matt's release from the WWE, and Adam and Amy's relationship are all very real. In that regard, I believe that every word that Lita spoke on Byte This! this past Wednesday night were all 100% spoken from the heart. The one thing I can't comprehend is WHY the WWE would decide to turn this very real, very emotional situation into a storyline. Emotions are running high, and punches thrown by Edge and Hardy will always be stiff. I can only hope that no one gets seriously hurt in this situation.

People have also been assuming (myself included) that now that we know Edge will not be facing John Cena for the WWE title at SummerSlam, he will face Matt Hardy instead. I'm hoping that will not be the case, but chances are, it will be. Something else that really bothers me about the real life situation being turned into a storyline is the fact that it basically cancels out Edge and Lita's entire feud with Kane. In any case, one thing is absolutely certain - RAW's ratings are about to skyrocket.

That does it for this week. Be sure to tune in to RAW tomorrow night, and Sam should finally be back next Sunday to bring you guys the next issue.
