Adam Weekly - Issue # 44

Hi, everyone, and welcome to this week's issue! This, of course, is Renee, back to give you the rundown this week.

Each week so far, since Edge's onscreen pairing with Lita, the promos between the two just seem to be getting better and better. It's to the point where people can hardly wait until their segments come up on RAW. Edge has always been a very intense superstar, and his better half Lita definitely shares that in common with him. I loved The Highlight Reel on RAW last week, and how Edge refused to allow Lita to go out there to the ring while Kane was there. Haters and skeptics may argue against this, but I think our favorite blond Canadian is the chivalrous type despite being a heel, and I love his protectiveness of his girlfriend. The locker room/bathroom segment was fantastic and the interaction between the couple was priceless. I thought Lita kissing her wedding ring was a little added touch that just intensified the segment, and Edge was hilarious when he flushed it down the toilet, waved and said, "bye bye."

As is obviously going to be the recurring theme between Edge and Lita, the two celebrated the flushing of the ring and Lita's announcement of officially filing for divorce from Kane with a passionate kiss. This past week's kiss was, if anything, even better the the previous two. It was more natural this time (although last week's looked very natural, too). The first kiss seemed a little bit overdone when compared with this one. In any case, it was extremely sweet and shows how much they love each other and shows just how comfortable they are with one another onscreen as well as off.

I found it interesting that Eric Bischoff has appointed Edge as one of his "generals" in his crusade against ECW... Although it seemed a bit hypocritical of the General Manager in making a tables match when he's so against that company. Evidently, Edge will be making an appearance in some form or fashion in the ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view, although it would be interesting to see if Lita appears there as Miss Congeniality. But back to a little about the tables match against Chris Benoit... Edge, of course, suffered a bloody mouth after Benoit kicked a table right into his face. And I have read some comments on forums and such about how "Lita told Edge where to go live on RAW." That is such nonsense - after the match ended, you can read Lita's lips as she says "Don't kiss me" to Edge. Naturally, she didn't want him to kiss her when he had a BLOODY MOUTH! Don't read anything more into that than what it actually was. Hey, I wouldn't kiss someone with a bloody mouth, either, no matter HOW much I loved him.

Of course, I did manage to pick up a copy of the Backlash 2005 DVD this past Wednesday, and I wanted to talk about the exclusive backstage footage between Edge and Lita. It was one of the cutest, sweetest moments I have ever seen in the WWE. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure they were completely out of character during the segment. He was very sweet and concerned about her, and even shy, traits that aren't really "Edge" these days. Or, more aptly, traits that the heel Edge wouldn't have toward the face Lita. The footage is pretty short, under 40 seconds, but very effective. Following his last man standing match, Edge is walking down the arena hallway and sees someone who lights his entire face up with a smile. He says, "Hey," and as the camera shifts, we see Lita sitting on an equipment case. She asks him how he's doing, briefly mentioning his match, but he quickly turns his attention on her, asking how her knee is doing. It's just very sweet. If you're reading this column right now, you probably already know that I have the video of this segment up on the site, although there isn't any sound at the moment. I have promised to try to record the audio separately and then incorporate it into the video. If I manage to do so, I'll make an announcement about it, and I urge you to download that new version of the video so you can hear their interaction. It's definitely more than worth it.

That does it for this week. Next week, Sam will give her take on tomorrow's RAW happenings, and possibly on the draft lottery. Oh, one last thing I want to say is that I don't see Edge or Lita being drafted for SmackDown. I believe they will both stay put on RAW, so don't worry! =)
