Adam Weekly - Issue # 41

Hello, and welcome finally (after a month's hiatus) to an all new issue of this column.

Well, it seems as though with each passing week on RAW, things just seem to get more and more interesting for Edge. Last week was certainly no exception, and the show pretty much showcased the feud that's been brewing and simmering between him and Chris Benoit.

The battle royal ended up being a shining moment between the two former friends/current enemies. Edge and Benoit duked it out to the point that they were both precariously on the ring apron, and it would have seemed that one of them would fall to the floor first, but that of course didn't happen. Instead, we were treated to an even more intense moment when both hit simultaneously. This only added fuel to the already brilliant feud going on between these two. And afterward, while logic would have said Edge and Benoit should step back into the ring, the end of the battle royal re-started, that of course, wasn't to be. Instead, we saw acting General Manager Randy Orton declaring that both men would go on to face Triple H for a shot at the World Heavyweight championship in the night's main event.

Speaking of the main event, how controversial an ending was there to that match? There have been many arguments about who won - some people say that Benoit's shoulders were down and that Edge didn't tap until about a split second after the referee's hand came down for the three. Others see it slightly differently, thinking Edge tapped out before the ref counted three. Also to be noted is the fact that the referee who'd been officiating up until the end, Earl Hebner, had been knocked out thanks to Benoit shoving Edge off the top turnbuckle, inadvertently into him. Ol' Earl hadn't been conscious to see what happened at the end, so Mike Chioda had run out to take over. Chioda, of course, was the ref who declared Edge the winner and new champ while Hebner somehow thinks he saw a tap-out, thus declaring Benoit the winner and new champ.

All in all, last week ended with much confusion. Seemingly, Triple H would now be taken out of the picture altogether since he wasn't even in the ring during all of this. However, remember that Orton (whom Triple H had attacked on the outside) had struck the leader of Evolution with a chair. It wouldn't be very surprising to see Triple H somehow manage to hold onto the belt, and thus, in a way, Hebner would be yet again screwing two more Canadians... But with Chris Jericho serving as tomorrow night's General Manager, who knows what may happen?

Check back soon for another issue, and tune in to RAW tomorrow night!
