Adam Weekly - Issue # 40

Hi, all! The column is finally back after a few weeks of a hiatus!

Well, well... My, my, my... Edge certainly made quite the impact last week on RAW. His actions from last week not only sparked a brand new feud with someone, to my memory, he's never really feuded with, but also cemented him as a heel - no longer can he be considered a 'tweener.'

After all his frustrations following everything that went down right before, at and then immediately following Taboo Tuesday, one would say Edge definitely had every right to be pissed as hell. Had Shawn Michaels not been out of commission due to a bad knee and subsequent surgery, he would no doubt have been the focus of the very angry blond Canadian last week. But HBK was nowhere around, and thus, the recipient of Edge's wrath ended up being "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, his tag team partner and co-Tag Team champion.

How much sense did all of this make? In terms of thinking of the World title and how much Edge wants it, not a whole lot. He seemed to be finally getting thrust into at least a *semblance* of the title picture, as he'd come in second only to Shawn Michaels, losing the votes by a mere six percent to face Triple H for the belt at Taboo Tuesday. Benoit, of course, had received the least votes of the three possible contenders.

Evidently, Edge has been steered clear of a shot at the World title. Instead, he has been put into a brand new feud with his former friend. It's frustrating that he won't be getting his well-deserved shot, but at the same time, it *is* exciting to witness the beginnings of what should be a great rivalry. Benoit and Edge have faced one another a few times back when they were on the SmackDown roster, however, even when it was one-on-one, both were part of tag teams and were vying for the Tag titles. They didn't have any serious bad blood between the two of them, but this time is definitely different. Edge attacked the Crippler like no one has done in a long while. He fueled the already small, simmering spark of anger between them, not only by causing La Resistance to win and reclaim the tag belts, but added even more insult to injury by later slapping on Benoit's own move, the Crippler Crossface, on him - causing Benoit to tap out!

So, what will happen tomorrow night on RAW? Will Benoit be planning a little revenge during their one-on-one match? Bet on it! Will Edge be prepared for the attack? Will he have a little something up his sleeve? That remains to be seen, but seeing as Edge is a *smart* man, you can count on him having his guard up! Tune in tomorrow night to RAW for what should be a great match, and back here next week for a new issue!
