Adam Weekly - Issue # 38

Hi, and welcome to the new issue. This week, I'll discuss the goings on involving Edge on last week's RAW and speculations as to what may happen with him in the aftermath.

As everyone knows by now, last week, Edge was stripped of his Intercontinental championship. The "reasoning" behind this action was that he would be missing four to six weeks of in-ring action due to his groin injury. This is extremely unfair and a pretty rash decision on the part of the WWE management. First of all, it would be a wiser decision to wait and see when Edge could return to action. If it turns out he is only out for a month, being stripped of the title will all have been for nothing. Secondly, other champions before him have suffered injuries and not gotten their titles taken away. Take Trish Stratus for example. The Women's champion suffered with a broken/crushed hand for two and a half months and yet, she still got to keep her title belt. Triple H has held the World Heavyweight title previously despite injury. So, why is it that *Edge* suffers the short end of the stick and receives such unfair treatment? *Shakes head*

Of course, the title stripping is all leading up to tonight's pay-per-view, Unforgiven. Chris Jericho and Christian will be facing each other in a ladder match, and the winner will be the new champion. Will Edge play a minor part in the contest? Chances are he *won't*, since he really shouldn't come anywhere near the ring while suffering with his injury. However, whether it happens remains to be seen.

With the IC belt being taken out of his hands and off his waist, the doors may seemingly be open for bigger and better things for Edge once he heals and returns to action. This may be a blessing in disguise, as he would now be free to compete for the World Heavyweight title. If Randy Orton retains the title tonight, once the feud with Triple H is over and done with, perhaps he and Edge would start feuding again.

However, again the WWE seems to be uncertain about the direction of Edge's character. Over the last several weeks, he's seemed to be on the verge of turning heel. Last week, during his interview with Coach, he sounded like the face we've all known for the last three years. And because he made a comment about General Manager Eric Bischoff kissing Evolution's ass, maybe his feud with Evolution will be re-awakened.

Now I will make my Unforgiven predictions for tonight...

Rhyno & Tajiri Vs. La Resistance (Tag Team Title Match): This feud has been going for awhile now, and I think the edge has to go to Rhyno and Tajiri. However, with Tajiri being rumored as being injured, it would seem that Rhyno will have to carry this match for his team.

Trish Stratus Vs. Victoria (Women's Title Match): Hmm... A tough one, almost too tough to call. I'm wondering if the "mystery woman" will come out to assist Victoria. No doubt, Tyson Tomko will be in Trish's corner and won't hesitate to lend her a hand. I'm going out on a limb and picking Victoria.

Kane Vs. Shawn Michaels: This will be the Showstopper's first match back, and he has bigtime dividends to pay back to Kane for putting him out of action months back. Also, if Lita is at ringside, she would probably try to help him out. Despite Kane's size and strength, I have to pick HBK to win this one.

Chris Jericho Vs. Christian (Intercontinental Title Ladder Match): I honestly don't know what to think as to who might win this one. I would think Jericho would come out on top, but Christian has been away for awhile with a back injury. Also, I can see Tyson Tomko coming out to help him, and yet, I lean more toward Y2J.

Chris Benoit & William Regal Vs. Batista and Ric Flair: This match, of course, was just added to the lineup last week. Something tells me Triple H would be far too involved in his own business for the World Heavyweight match, so I don't see him assisting his fellow Evolution members. I pick Benoit and Regal.

Randy Orton Vs. Triple H (World Heavyweight Title Match): I would guess that Triple H would have an ace up his sleeve (that ace, of course, being the fact that he's married to the boss' daughter), and I would pick him to win this based solely on *that*. Yet I don't see Orton losing his title that soon. I think Randy is going to outsmart the so-called "Game" and walk out the victor and still champion!

That's it for this week's issue. Check back next week for a new topic.
