The Birthday Wish

The Birthday Wish

Adam Copeland sighed wistfully as he gazed out the passenger's side window at the expanse of colorful trees.  It was the day before his birthday, and he and best friend Jay Reso were traveling to the WWE's next stopover, Boston, Massachussetts.

Jay, behind the wheel of the rental car they were sharing, glanced quickly at Adam, noting his state of mind.

"God the birthday blues, dude?"

"Well, not really...yeah," Adam admitted reluctantly.  He raked his fingers through his long blond hair and sighed again before speaking.  It's just that...Oh, hell, Jay...Call me crazy, but it just feels like something is missing...I have tons of great friends, my Mom is fantastic, and so is the rest of my family...but-"

"Hey, I hear you, man...I know how you feel," Jay offered.

"Do you?" Adam asked seriously.  "Do you really?"

"Well, not personally at the moment," Jay admitted, his thought immediately shifting to Trish Stratus.  He and the petite blonde had become an item over six months earlier, and he couldn't have been happier.

Adam turned his head and glanced out the passenger's window again.  After a moment of silence between the two lifelong friends, he said, "I'm sorry, Jay...I didn't mean to snap at you."

"Hey, it's okay, Adam."  He drove a couple of miles without a word.  Finally, as they were just going through their exit, Jay said, "This is about Amy, isn't it?"

Adam looked up quickly.  "Amy?"

"Yeah, Amy...you know, red hair, thong-wearing, daredevil...beautiful."

Adam faced forward, gazing out the windshield.  "Well, you can say that..."

"Look man, I'm no expert on women or anything, but...why don't you talk to her?  Tell her how you feel."

"I really don't want to take that chance, Jay," Adam admitted.  "I honestly don't think she sees me as anything more than a friend, and I don't want to make things all weird between us by telling her-"

"That you're completely, hopelessly, desperately, head over heels in love with her," the shorter blond finished for him.

Adam sighed and was silent for another moment before he replied.  "Well...yeah, that."

Amy Dumas laughed heartily as she and her fellow divas Trish Stratus and Stacy Keibler picked up their bags to leave the hotel lobby and go up to their rooms.  While Trish would be rooming with her boyfriend, Jay Reso, she and Stacy, both currently unattached, were bunking together.

"You know, you are really incredible," she said softly to Stacy.

"Hey, just call it a gift," the tall blonde said with a tiny smile.

"I would never even think of what you just did," Amy said, shaking her head and trying not to laugh again.

Stacy had "conned" the man at the front desk into giving them a larger room with two beds - rather than accepting the small, single bed room he had offered to Amy.  The larger room had been promised to people who had made a reservation in advance, whereas Amy and Stacy had just walked in off the street requesting a room.  Stacy had ensured the room for them by lifting up her long skirt to expose a little leg to the desk clerk.  Actually, a "little" leg nowhere near described Ms. Keibler's lower limbs.

"Hey, you could have helped," Stacy quipped.  "If you'd flashed some boob, maybe we'd have gotten an executive suite!"

Trish burst into a fit of laughter as Amy gaped, incredulous, and shook her head at her friend.  "Gee, I'm glad I'm not sharing a room with you two...What would I have had to show that guy?" the petite Canadian joked.

Amy felt bad and a little guilty about taking the room, but she would much prefer her own bed.  Besides, she knew Stacy was a pretty restless sleeper who shifted around a lot in her sleep.  And if she had to share a bed, she would much rather do so with a man - one who could be her sweetie.

"Hey, ladies!" a voice called out behind them.  As they turned around, Jay Reso rushed up to catch up to them.

"Hi, baby," Trish said, a big grin spreading across her lovely face.  She leaned into her boyfriend's embrace and hugged him tightly, simultaneously kissing him.

Out of the corner of her eye, Amy noticed the desk clerk staring their way, a look she could only think of as shock on his face.  He was probably envious of Jay for having three exceptionally attractive women hanging around him.

"You get the room, angel?" Jay was asking his girlfriend.

"Yup," Trish quipped, pulling a cardkey from her coat pocket to show him.  "We're on the second floor."

"Cool...Listen...Amy?" he began as he glanced over at the redhead.  "When you're settled in, I've gotta talk to you, okay?"

"Oh...okay," Amy replied.  "Just give me a few minutes."  In her line of vision, beyond Jay and Trish, she spotted Adam Copeland entering the hotel through the glass automatic double doors.  Her breath caught in her throat as she watched the man struggle momentarily to pull his wheeled suitcase over the threshold, the cool Boston breeze lifting his long golden hair off his shoulders.

Amy suddenly snapped back to reality as she felt Stacy nudge her in the back.  She turned to glance up into the leggy blonde's face, which wore a small, knowing smile.  Turning back, she saw that Adam had finally joined them.

"Hey," he said in greeting.  Then, he turned his green eyes directly toward Amy.  "Hi, Amy."

"Hey, Adam," she said with a smile.

"Oh, Adam," Trish stated, "I already checked you in..."  She reached into the other pocket of her coat and handed him a cardkey.  "...Jay asked me to do that in case we got here before you two did."

"Thanks a lot, Trish...I really appreciate it," he said graciously, grinning at his fellow Canadian as he took the key and pocketed it.

"Sure thing...Don't mention it."

"Angel...let's head to our room," Jay said as he patted Trish on the hip.  Ever the gentleman, he hefted up her bag as well as his own.  "Jeez, Trish," he complained as the couple made their way to the stairs, "this thing weighs a ton...What do you have in here?"

"Just a few things I needed, that's all," the diva replied.

"Ha!  'Just a few,' she says."

"You don't know anything about being a girl," Trish countered.

"Lucky for you," Jay retorted.  "Otherwise, you'd have some serious competition, Stratus...I'd be a knockout if I was a woman."

The couple's laughter trailed off as they continued up the stairs.

Amy and Stacy stood facing Adam for a moment after.  "Well, I want to get myself settled in," the tall blonde finally said.  "I've been looking forward to a nice, hot bubble bath all day."

Amy glanced from Adam to Stacy, then back again.  "Yeah, I should get settled as well...I'm tired, and I'm getting hungry.  Probably call for room service."

The three of them climbed the stairs together.  Their rooms were both on the second floor as well.  When they reached the top, Adam said, "Okay, ladies...I guess I'll see you later."  He caught the redhead's gaze.  After a brief moment of eye contact, Stacy nudged her friend.

"See you later," she said as they started down the hallway toward their room.

"Why don't you just ask him out, Amy?" Stacy pressed as the two divas were relaxing on their beds.  They had put the TV on, its volume soft and undistracting while they talked.

"I want to, but..."  The redhead bit her lip.  "...He doesn't think of me in that way."

"How do you know?"

"Stacy, the male wrestlers all see me as 'one of the guys,' and Adam is no exception.  Besides, what chance does a tomboy like me stand with girls like you around?"

"Are you kidding?" Stacy asked seriously.  "Guys are always talking about you...just the other day, I overheard Chris telling Drew he thinks you're 'beyond hot.'"

"Oh, Chris?  Chris wants all of us.  He'll go for anything in a skirt except Scott Levy."  Amy laughed at her own remark, as did Stacy.

Both women looked up at the sudden knocking on the door.  Amy glanced back at the blonde.  "That must be Jay..."  She rose from the bed and ran to open the door while Stacy busied herself by rummaging through her suitcase.

"Hey," Jay said as he stepped into the room.

"You wanted to talk to me?"

Stacy walked briskly past them, a black sweater draped over her left arm.  "I'll be back later," she said.  A second later, she slipped out the door to give Amy and Jay some privacy.

"Yeah, I did," Jay said, looking at the diva seriously.  He sat down on the foot of the nearest bed.

Amy seated herself on the desk chair near the bed, pulling it closer to her friend.

"Actually," Jay said, "it's about Adam."  He looked up and met her eyes.  "As you know, tomorrow is his birthday...and he's pretty depressed."

Amy cocked her head as she regarded him with surprise.  "Why?"

"Well...I know this is going to sound strange, but because of...well, you."

"Me?"  Amy wasn't following him.  She also hoped the next time she spoke, she would get out more than just one word.

"Ames...Adam has no idea I'm talking to you right now, but...Well, he's been feeling lonely lately," Jay confided.  "And he's in love with you."

"He's what???"  Okay, so this time she had managed two words instead of only one.  She stared incredulously at the man as he continued.

"Adam is in love with you, Amy...he has been for a long time...But he's afraid to say anything to you because of your friendship," Jay explained.

Amy stared at him wonderingly.  "Why would he be afraid to tell me?  I mean...what does he think I would say or do that makes him afraid to tell me?"  She was totally surprised and couldn't believe she was having this conversation with Jay.

"He's worried you would reject him."

"Oh, Jay...I would never..."  She paused and placed one hand to her face before continuing.  "...I love him, too, Jay."

"Really?"

"Yes..."  The redhead leaned slightly back in the chair and sighed as she put her head back.  "Oh, God...I can't believe this.  So, Adam and I feel the same way about each other..."

"Wow," Jay said.  "This is great!  You two would be awesome as a couple...How about if we go find Adam right now, and-"

"No," Amy cut in.  "I have a better idea..."  She began to tell him about what had flitted through her mind as he'd told her of Adam's feelings for her.

October 30th, Night

Adam felt sad as he sat in his hotel room alone on the night of his birthday.  Although there were no tapings or house shows that night, no one was around to hang out with him.  Jay and Trish were out on the town, as were most of his closest friends.  Amy and Stacy were exceptions, but had said they were going to stay in and relax.

Earlier in the night, a group of his friends had given him a small party.  They treated him to dinner and showered him with gifts, and a waitress had come out from the kitchen with a candlelit cake.  He appreciated all their sentiments, but somehow, it still didn't feel like enough to boost his spirits.  He was another year older and alone.  And he was pining away for a woman who only liked him as a friend.

After a moment, Adam mentally cursed himself for such thoughts.  He appreciated all of his friends and their kind gestures.  He was lucky to have all of them.

He looked up from the magazine he was reading as he heard the knocking on the door.  Who could that be? he wondered.  He strode over to the door and opened it, surprised to see a bellboy with a huge cake laying atop a wheeled cart.

"What's this?" Adam questioned in confusion.  "I already got my birthday cake tonight."

The man pushed the cart into the room nonetheless.

"Err...I think I would prefer just one piece, not this entire thing."

"I was told to deliver this cake to your room, sir - not to slice it," the bellboy stated.  Then, without another word or even waiting for a tip, he left.

Adam stared, puzzled, at the huge dessert.  "Now, what the hell am I gonna do with this thing?" he muttered to himself.  He guessed this was probably a prank by none other than Jay.

All of a sudden, to his surprise, the top of the cake came off as a pair of hands shoved it to the floor.

"What the...?"  Adam felt silly as he hadn't even realized it was that kind of cake.  So, Jay had hired a stripper for his birthday?

A woman rose from the top of the cake slowly and seductively, but his breath caught when he saw her face and realized who she was.  It was Amy - wearing a sexy royal blue and black satin and lace teddy, her long auburn hair flowing in soft wavelets.  Her lovely face wore a smile as she gazed down at him tenderly.

"Ames???" he finally managed after his momentary speechelessness.

"Hey, you," she said softly.  "Umm...help me out of here, would you?"

Adam stepped closer and lifted the diva out of the cake, then set her down on her feet as he gazed down into her hazel eyes.  "Amy, what...?"

"Shh," she said, placing a finger over his lips to silence him.  She smiled more broadly at the shocked expression on his handsome face.  "This is just my way of saying happy birthday," she said softly, her eyes locked with his.  "And I just want you to know I know how you feel about me...and that I feel exactly the same about you...I love you, Adam."

The tall blond couldn't believe his ears as well as his eyes.  After a moment of silence, he softly asked, "You do?"  His hand moved up to her face, gently caressing her cheek.

Amy nodded.  "I really do..."

"Amy..." Adam breathed.  "I never thought I'd hear you say that...but I've been hoping and wishing..."  He moved his face closer to hers and nuzzled her.  "I love you, Ames..."  He lowered his lips to hers and they kissed deeply.

As they became more passionate, Amy tugged on his shirt, lifting it up and over his head when he raised his arms to do so.  Before long, they had removed the rest of their garments.  Adam lifted Amy gently in his arms and carried her to the bed.

Amy's heart was in her eyes as she gazed up at him.  She could see all the love he had for her clearly shining in his emerald eyes, which gently drank her in.  She couldn't believe all this was really happening.  Just yesterday, she'd had no clue that he loved her.

"Oh, God..."  She moaned softly as Adam, who had slid down the length of her body, began to prod gently, then more firmly with his tongue, at the most sensitive area on her body.  She reached down and gently gripped a handful of his golden locks, grasping the pillow upon which her head lay with the other.  As he continued lavishing her, her moans began to increase in volume.

"Adam...Adam...Oh, God!"  Amy began to rock her hips back and forth with the motions of his skillful mouth.  Another moment passed before she reached the brink, crying out even louder.  She reached down with both hands and gripped his head.

"I want...need you inside of me, Adam...now..."

The blond man lifted his head, smiling at her gently as their eyes locked and held.  As he moved so that he was laying beside her, the redhead reached down to touch him and smiled as she felt his full length and hardness.

Adam kissed her more forcefully, his tongue entering her mouth as he felt Amy's leg suddenly over his.  Taking her cue, he lifted his head and rolled slightly over, the redhead turning onto her back.  Adam positioned himself between her shapely legs, then raised them, slipping easily into her moist silkiness.  He began to thrust slowly, increasing his pace gradually, which caused Amy to come again.  She began crying out again as she did.  Before long, he too reached the delicious peak.  He moaned her name and emptied himself into her before withdrawing and laying back spent against the pillows.

Adam held Amy against him tightly, both of them nearly drenched in sweat.  He gently kissed her on the lips before placing another kiss on her forehead.

"That was amazing," Amy whispered as she gazed lovingly at him.

"Very amazing," Adam agreed.  "I love you, Ames."  He couldn't believe it.  He had gotten his fondest birthday wish and couldn't have been happier.  This was the best present he had ever gotten.  He wrapped his arm more securely around the woman he loved as the two of them drifted off to a blissful sleep.
