Lita debuted in the WWE in February 2000 by the side of high-flying daredevil cruiserweight Essa Rios. As she stood by him, Essa quickly managed to capture the Light Heavyweight Championship. Lita was instrumental in a lot of his matches, taking his opponents down with her trademark Hurricanrana and Moonsault. The two parted ways after Essa suffered a loss to Matt Hardy in June 2000. During the match, Essa had knocked her off the apron, then after it, proceeded to yell at and powerbomb her in the ring. The Hardy Boyz ran back out to her rescue.

In late 2000, The Radicalz's Dean Malenko suddenly took an interest in Lita and began hitting on her on a regular basis. Lita let him know she was not in the least interested, but Malenko didn't listen. Eventually, he challenged her to a match where she would have an opportunity to win the Light Heavyweight Championship - if she won. However, if she lost, they would go on a date that Thursday instead of SmackDown. Of course, Lita came up short and had to go on the date. The harassment continued for a couple more months.

Lita and Matt Hardy became a couple at the end of the Dean Malenko fiasco. Lita had a one-on-one match against Dean to settle things once and for all. During the contest, the referee was knocked unconscious, and Matt Hardy suddenly ran out from the crowd to assist Lita by smashing Dean with a chair. With the ref soon roused, she made the pin and got the three. After, Hardy gave her a hug and followed that with a kiss. Embarrassed, he apologized and walked away, but Lita ran after him and returned the favor. The two ended up breaking up twice but got back together.

The relationship between Lita and Christian never really was anything, but it's worth mentioning. After Matt Hardy switched over to the RAW brand in November 2003, he pulled a rotten prank on her that cost her her job as well as her heart. Christian went looking for her as she was leaving the arena and told her she wasn't fired because he'd cashed in a favor to get her job back. In the following weeks, Lita accompanied him to the ring for a match against her ex, Matt Hardy, and was rescued by Christian after an attack by Hardy during her steel cage match against Victoria. It was later revealed that Christian didn't care a thing for Lita and that his being nice to her was all part of a bet between him and Chris Jericho which also included Trish Stratus.

In one of her most memorable relationships, Lita had a terrifying beginning with The Big Red Monster Kane. She became pregnant with his child after sleeping with him due to him blackmailing her and threatening to hurt Matt Hardy. Kane made Lita and Hardy's lives a living hell and brought in a stipulation at the SummerSlam 2004 match - that the winner would get to marry Lita. Kane, of course, won her hand and married her against her will. For a short time in the spring of 2005, it seemed Lita actually had some tender feelings for the monster, but that turned out to be a ruse.

Lita and Gene Snitsky didn't exactly have a "relationship," but they were victim/victimizer and later associates. Snitsky was responsible for Lita's miscarriage during a match against Kane, and following that, came up with his famous "It wasn't my fault!" catchphrase. While Kane was out injured, he constantly stalked and threatened Lita, but Kane ended up getting his revenge some time later. In summer 2005, Snitsky became an ally of Lita's, and she even thanked him for sparing her from giving birth to a "monster" and kissed him for it!

Lita's final and overall longest relationship in the WWE was with Edge. The two got together under controversial circumstances in May 2005 but were the quintessential power couple. They made Kane suffer mental anguish, held championship gold together and even had a live sex celebration in the middle of the ring to celebrate Edge's first WWE title reign! They ridiculed "Nature Boy" Ric Flair during a trying time in his life, schemed against John Cena and even had their own special Rated R announce table during a couple of shows. Edge even served as special referee for an important (#1 contender for the Women's Championship) match and was instrumental in Lita's win, which led to her recapturing the Women's title.
