So, its that time again. The time we walk into the biggest pay-per-view of the year and we wonder, will anything be different this year? Of course it will be different in the sense that things change over the course of a year. Who would have thought this time last year that Edge would have been WWE champion, Lita would have turned heel, Matt Hardy would be back, Mark Henry would have been in the Royal Rumble main event and Triple H would be in the WrestleMania main ev...oh wait. The question many are asking, is what will be done with Lita?! Will she turn face? The answer is a resounding "no." The WWE do what makes good business sense and as a couple, Lita and Edge are flourishing. As a heel, Lita has completely reinvented herself and along with Edge, she has become so over that it would be madness for the WWE to turn Lita face now, particuarly when she doesn't have the support of the majority of fans. Merchandise flies off the shelves as this arrogant, cocky and loudmouthed couple entertain and shock the fans every week with their antics. Arguments that the couple doesn't wash now that the Matt Hardy storyline has finished just do not wash as this is a couple that still keep themselves burning brightly - in the glare of the main event spot where they played a huge part in pushing ratings and in the feud with Mick Foley which is arguably the most anticipated match at WrestleMania. Tonight, we should get some decent action from Lita seeing as the match has no rules and hopefully we will see her take a few bumps as she becomes a more active part of the RAW roster. Long may it continue. WrestleMania predictions: John Cena v Triple H: I predict a Triple H victory - although I am loath to say it - with a double turn in the match. My prediction is that by the end of the night, John Cena will be a heel and Triple H will be a face. Kurt Angle v Randy Orton v Rey Mysterio: As much as I'd like Rey to win this, I can't see Orton not winning with the push he has received recently. HBK v Mr. McMahon: I only see one winner here and that is HBK. After a feud where HBK has not had the upper hand once, I think a win is in order for him on the grandest stage of them all. Edge v Cactus Jack: Edge. It benefits Edge to win more than it does Mick Foley and I see an Edge win via a screwjob involving Lita. That way, by ruining Foley's last chance at a WrestleMania moment, Edge and Lita will take their heel heat to a new level. MITB Ladder Match: I believe Ric Flair will win this otherwise his presense in the match makes little sense to me. The WWE may have in line a last title run with Ric for sentiment's sake so I think that he will therefore win. I think the SmackDown superstars are unlikely to win as it is too early for Lashley, Hardy is not seen as main event material and Finlay seems to be there as the experienced wrestler. I also do not see Shelton winning, however it is possible that RVD will. My prediction remains Ric Flair though. Undertaker v Mark Henry: Undertaker all the way - particuarly as it is a Casket Match, Taker's territory - and is at WrestleMania. Do not expect Taker to lose his streak here. Chris Benoit v JBL: Arguably the toughest match to call but I get a feeling that Benoit will retain. JBL has been shown as a fading force on SmackDown and I feel that the time will be right soon for someone like Kennedy to step up so I see a Benoit victory here. Kane & Big Show v Masters & Carlito: I see Carlito and Masters pulling off a victory here but I feel the biggest story in the match will be a Kane heel turn. I think the WWE will give the monster the jolt he needs by turning him on the Big Show. Trish Stratus v Mickie James: Mickie James. We can prepare for a long feud here and seeing as Trish has held the Women's Title for a long, long time, I feel that Mickie will defeat her idol here. Boogeyman v Booker T and Sharmell: Boogeyman. It all aids the push he is getting Torrie v Candice: Er...Candice? Thanks for reading! Dan |
