AMY CHRISTINE DUMAS » THE DIVINE MISS DUMAS » ISSUE #2

Well, New Year’s Revolution is nearly upon us and so are question marks about Lita’s alliance by some sections of the IWC. Allow me to attempt to reassure by saying that the likelihood of Lita turning on Edge or vice versa is slim to none.

With New Year’s Revolution and what I think will be an Edge win coming up, the WWE had to play the angle where Flair has the upper hand going into NYR. And as was done with Rey Mysterio and Lita, it involved Lita taking a move but this time on her injured knee – a sign that WWE may be testing the water for an intergender match or two. A botched spot is also a possibility but from every angle, it is clear that as soon as Edge saw Lita in the Figure Four, he ran back to help her while she was still in the hold. And Flair released her. If Edge had continued to run after seeing Lita in the move, claims of a turn would be understandable. But Lita will be supporting her man at NYR and beyond.

It has been said that Lita will be turning on Edge soon by…you guessed it…smarks. Now I hate to play the bad guy in their whining game but it is not going to happen. I will probably receive various insults should they choose to read this piece but hey, I guess I open myself to it by choosing to write. I just know that I’m right and I can’t wait to be proved right. And that isn’t arrogance, it is fact.

What makes people believe that Lita will turn on Edge at NYR? Edge running up the ramp apparently. It seems to have escaped people’s notice that Edge turned around and ran back to help Lita WHILE SHE WAS STILL IN THE HOLD. This is not an opinion – it cannot be debated because it is a fact. Add to this, there was NO follow up to this such as a backstage skit or a dirty look. It was Flair getting the upper hand going into NYR and I look forward to seeing the expression on some faces when it sinks in that Lita or Edge cannot turn face.

My Predictions For New Year's Revolution

Elimination Chamber:

I see nothing but a John Cena victory here simply because the push behind Cena has been too enormous to have him lose the title at anything other than a mixed brand PPV. I expect Cena to turn in a typical “overcome the odds” performance to pull off the win just ahead of Kurt Angle.

Big Show v Triple H:

This could potentially be an interesting match, but I see Triple H walking away the winner. After being 1-1 with Flair, I see the WWE re-establishing Triple H’s dominance by having him defeat the largest athlete in the world.

Ric Flair v Edge/Lita:

I see Edge and Lita emerging the victors here with Lita getting heavily involved in the match and Edge walking out IC champion on their way to the WWE title. I feel Flair was only going to be champion for his legendary status and for the emotional resonance it provided. A run by Edge and Lita could elevate them as serious contenders for the title.

Gregory Helms v Jerry Lawler:

A Helms victory here as Helms has everything to lose with defeat and King nothing. I definitely see Helms going cleanly over King to continue with his heel push.

Bra and Panties Gauntlet:

Unfortunately, I have no enthusiasm for this (despite being a straight guy) and I just thank my lucky stars that Lita is better off with Edge and not degraded to this, but I see Candice winning this… unfortunately.

Trish Stratus v Mickie James:

I sense a Mickie James win after a Mickie heel turn and for Trish to then chase the championship.

Thanks for reading The Divine Miss Dumas!
